Tribological Performance for Steel–Steel Contact Interfaces Using Hybrid MWCNTs/Al2O3 Nanoparticles as Oil-Based Additives in Engines

Numerous problems occur during engine operation, such as start-up, lack of lubrication, and overheating, resulting in components’ wear, power loss, fuel consumption. Nanomaterials dispersed oil can play an important role improving the tribological properties lubricants. This study investigated influence multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) aluminum oxide nanoparticles (Al2O3 NPs) nano-additives for Different samples were loaded with 0.5–2.0 wt% Al2O3 NPs 0.5–1.0 MWCNTs compared unmodified oil. The performance nano lubricants was using four-ball test method. In addition, wear scar evaluated 3D micrographs scanning electron microscopy (SEM). results sliding surfaces hybrid MWCNTs/Al2O3 showed better friction resistance. coefficient (COF) width improved by 47.9% 51.5%, respectively,
